Episode 1 - Introductions

Episode 2 - Democratic Debate Analysis, Alarmism Rhetoric, and Activism vs. Journalism

Main Segment:

Like I mentioned previously, I am interested in the Democratic Debate and what it has to offer.  It is a litmus test for what the candidates think are important issues in this country.  For instance, of the 25 or so questions fired at the candidates, none of them dealt with the issue of abortion.  The only one that came close was a question regarding roe v. wade in the senate and federal bench.  Even then, it was more of a backdrop.  Now I think this should be the number one issue in our society today, but this is a reflection of what the Democratic Party holds to be valuable.  Which goes to show just how difficult it should be Christians to vote democrat.  Because the number one issue is life.  It shouldn’t be the economy or public education.

Having said that, I want to look at thee issues that the Democrats seem to value - based off of the questions asked - and then see how we should we thinking about them in the light of Christ.  The first is President Trump’s impeachment.  They seem to be almost obsessed with this, as this has been a trending issue for weeks.  As a side note, I have had this question percolating for a long time, which is: Does Trump divide the nation?  Or does the media, who are so inflamed against the President, divide the country?  I think the answer is both, but these leaders are just adding to the clamor, even though many of them like Buttigeig and Steyer are calling for peace and unity.  It is all based off of the fact that Trump is the one dividing the country - which as said before is only adding to the clamor.

I was actually surprised when Andrew Yang has this to say about President Trump.  Over all, it is really easy to forget who we should be trying to root for when it comes to the Impeachment process.  For me, I am not completely enamoured with the way that the President handles himself, although I think he is good medicine for the Left.  The most important thing to remember that we should remain calm about this Process, seeing as the Kingdom of God doesn’t need the President to move forward.  The most we should be worried about is that justice should be carried out.

The other is Climate Change, a number of the candidates seemed to be sounding the alarm bells unnecessarily.  They are sounding seem to only panic the listeners.  If you haven’t listened to Greta Thunberg’s speech to the UN, I would go give it a listen, it is a brilliant example of sounding the alarm bells unnecessarily.

- PragerU posted a video entitled, “Climate Change: What’s So Alarming?”
- Artic ice levels are decreasing, Antartic ice levels are increasing
- Sea Level rising, but they are rising nearly as rapidly as in the past.

Episode 3 - Past Wang Yi Imprisoned for 9 Years, West Freeway Church of Christ Shooting, 2020 Goals

First Main Segment: Early Rain Pastor Wang Yi Sentenced to 9 Years

Some of you have probably heard this by now, but on December 30th, Pastor Wang Yi of Early Rain Covenant Church was sentenced to nine years imprisonment and stripped of his political rights for three years.  If you have been following this story at all, you know that nearly a hundred people were arrested this past month (per an article on disrn.com).  Also, according to another article.  The accusation that they were arrested on was “inciting subversion of state power” is purportedly a common charge which the Communist Party in China hand out when they feel threatened by Chinese Christians according to China Aid.

This quote from the good pastor Wang Yi sums the attitude that Christians should have:

“I hope God uses me, by means of first losing my personal freedom, to tell those who have deprived me of my personal freedom that there is an authority higher than their authority, and that there is a freedom that they cannot restrain, a freedom that fills the church of the crucified and risen Jesus Christ.” - Wang Yi.

Personal freedom is something we put a lot of emphasis on in the US, and it is obviously very crucial to the “American Way.”  But this story is a very good reminder of how we should be facing our current situation right now.  China is a very different country than America, which is very clear, but the mission for us is the same in both.  Christian in the United States should be seeking to use the freedoms that they have enjoyed in combat for the Kingdom.

If there is one a takeaway from this story for us, it is that we need to be doing something more.

Second Main Segment: White Settlement Shooter Stopped by Churchgoer

In our second segment today, I would like to address the shooting in West Freeway Church of Christ White Settlement, Texas.  Apparently, the shooter was reported to enter the building around the time of communion and open fire.  There are varying reports on whether or not he killed one or two congregants, but the amazing thing is is the fact that the church had a security team that was prepared for a moment like this, and they took him out in six seconds.  Thank the Lord!

I understand that there will probably be more debates eschewing from yet another shooting and that one of the common threads is that the Police should only have guns, but the national average response time for police to a 911 call is 10 minutes per American Police Beat, the damage could have been much worse.  Also, per the Homeland of National Security, “the average duration of an active shooter incident at a school is 12.5 minutes. In contrast, the average response time for law enforcement is 18 minutes.”  I think that we should be very thankful that this church had a security team that was enabled by the laws in this country, to defend themselves and the congregants.

Flannery O'Connor's Truth of the Day

This Flannery O'Connor quote throws into relief the current state of our culture, " We live now in an age which doubts both fact and value, which is swept this way and that by momentary convictions."  When political correctness and "cancel culture" dictates what people should think and how they should feel, then we lack a culture made up of men and women who do not have the backbone to say anything definitively.   But before we start developing a political opinion, we should make sure that we are standing on a firm foundation: "Blessed is the man     who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners,     nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,     and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree     planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season,     and its leaf does not wither. In all that he doe...

Stick to the Bible: It's Gospel Truth

In response to a few well-known Christians walking away from the faith, amongst them Joshua Harris, John Cooper wrote a lengthy Facebook post .  He expressed disbelief at these leaders' apostasies, "It is time for the church to rediscover the preeminence of the Word. And to value the teaching of the Word. We need to value truth over feeling. Truth over emotion. And what we are seeing now is the result of the church raising up influencers who did not supremely value truth who have led a generation who also do not believe in the supremacy of truth."  I could not have said it better myself.  Cooper, who is the lead singer for Skillet, is spot on in his assessment.  I must confess that I was skeptical, for I have read these kinds of posts before and it just sounds like virtue signalling.  But as I read it for a second time, he seems very genuine. In a follow up interview with CBN News, he re-iterated again another gospel truth:"You know what, if I'm struggling wit...

Finally Some Honesty: A Feminists' Perspective On The "Institution" of Marriage

On the most recent Patriarchy  podcast, they played this video that  The Guardian  shared a few years ago on Youtube.  The title is a dead give away as to the video's agenda: "Women, Face It: Marriage Can Never Be Feminist."  Julie Bindel, the speaker in the video, opens up with this statement, "Dress it up, subvert it, deny it all you want - marriage is an institution that has curtailed women's freedom for centuries.  But instead of rejecting the patriarchal and outdated tradition, some feminists have decided to reclaim it."   Bindel is coming after the "feminists" that claim to be feminists, but still have the audacity to get married.  To Bindel, marriage is an institution that is repressing women from achieving their full equality with men.  Now, this isn't new nor surprising, but we are finally getting the honesty of the feminist movement.  I don't think any sane person would want to oppress any other, like how feminism c...
