A couple weeks ago, a jury ruled in favor of Planned Parenthood in a suit against the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) and David Daleiden. David Daleiden and CMP were involved in a multi-year sting operation to expose Planned Parenthood's dealings when it came to abortions and harvesting baby body parts.
LifeSite News, which reported on this story, said that the jury meted out the amount that Daleiden and co. owed to Planned Parenthood, "The total amount awarded to Planned Parenthood is over $2 million, according to the Thomas More Society, which includes punitive and compensatory damages as well as attorneys' fees. Local San Francisco reporter Helen Chistophi tweeted from the courthouse that the punitive damages totaled $870,000."

The jury ruled against Daleiden and CMP saying that they broke a number of laws. Which an article on the New York Times mentioned, "The jury found that he had trespassed on private property and committed fraud, according to court papers. Planned Parenthood said in a statement that the jury had ruled in its favor on each of its claims, including a violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act."
Although, this isn't the end in this specific ruling, CMP stated, "While top Planned Parenthood witnesses spent six weeks testifying under oath that the undercover videos are true and Planned Parenthood sold fetal organs on a quid pro quo basis, a biased judge with close Planned Parenthood ties spent six weeks influencing the jury with pre-determined rulings and by suppressing video evidence, all in order to rubber-stamp Planned Parenthood’s lawsuit attack on the First Amendment. This is a dangerous precedent for citizen journalism and First Amendment civil rights across the country, sending a message that speaking truth and facts criticizing the powerful is no longer protected by our institutions." They will be appealing the verdict.
In the end, the sting videos that were dropped starting in 2015, have done quite a bit of damage, but this case goes further to show that there is still a long way to go when it comes to fighting abortion in this country.
